  • Bradford Conroy is the Corporate Human Rights Manager for Bayer, where he has worked for 13 years. Description

  • Have you ever really thought about what human rights are? We hear about them, we talk about them, but have you ever stopped to think about it and what they mean to you, your co-worker, your neighbor, and even someone in a different country? Society is increasingly concerned about human rights and how business activities impact them. Company stakeholders, ranging from employees and customers to investors and governments, expect and demand that companies integrate human rights in their business practices. In an effort to respond to these calls, companies have committed themselves to voluntary standards such as the United Nations Global Compact and by referring to human rights in their codes of business principles. In 2011, the United Nations made an important contribution to the business and human rights debate by unanimously endorsing the Protect, Respect and Remedy framework outlined in the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). This presentation provides a deep dive in to what human rights are, how businesses are integrating them in to their code of business principles, and how this impacts your work as a registered dietitian.
