UK HealthCare Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center is hiring for a Pediatric Diabetes Educator.
This position primarily works with pediatric patient populations.
The diabetes educator will work with diabetes care providers (e.g. , physicians, advanced practice providers) to provide integrated, comprehensive, and global management of pediatric patients with diabetes-related disorders. This individual will demonstrate a high-level of practice in diabetes education, including but not limited to care coordination and management, autonomous assessment, problem identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of diabetes care. The employee will be guided by his/her license status within his/her individual scope of practice, provide high-level counseling, regimen adjustment, therapeutic problem solving, and recognizing and prioritizing complex data.
The diabetes educator will engage in clinical and educational assessments to guide clinical decision-making and serves as a resource for development and/or review of BBDC materials and policies. The diabetes educator maximizes teaching and learning skills with a focus on analyzing, evaluating, and creating. The diabetes educator demonstrates sound knowledge of billing practice for diabetes educators. The diabetes educator demonstrates positivity and the ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.
