The Child and Family Studies Department at Berea College invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position. This position requires an earned doctorate or masters/ABD in Nutrition and Food Studies or a closely related discipline. The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise in developmental nutritional needs, introduction to food studies, applied food preparation and related courses; the ability to adapt and teach a variety of courses related to families and developmental stages; experience with active learning methodology and implementation and course management systems.
The successful candidate will teach: Fundamentals of Nutrition, and may also teach Principals of Food Preparation, Consumers and the Food System, Healthy Foods, and other food related courses.
In addition to teaching courses in the Department of Child and Family Studies, the successful candidate may be expected to: contribute to the General Studies program; supervise and mentor students in labor positions; work in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers; and participate in department, division and college meetings.
