Make plans to attend Legislative Day on Wednesday 2/19/20. KAND will be partnering with the Kentucky Diabetes Network for the event and the legislative focus this year revolves around diabetes and support of health departments. This year the event includes time for both organizations to meet together in the Capitol Rotunda and hear from sponsors of the bills we are supporting. The event is free, we just ask that members register prior to the event. If you are a member of KAND and KDN, please only register through one of the organizations. Be on the lookout for a Facebook event page that will include more details about the event and provide tips for scheduling meetings with legislators and more! Both groups will be wearing red, white, and blue for the event – looking forward to seeing you there!

Tentative Schedule:

8-8:30 am – Pick up name tag, member packet, legislator packets, and apple for legislator in Capitol Room 327

8:30-11:30 am – Time for self-guided activities which include attending KDN’s scheduled programming in Capitol Room 327 (as space allows), meet with legislators, attend a Standing Committee meeting, tour the Capitol building and grounds, and early lunch

11:30-12:30 pm – Meet in the Capitol Rotunda with KAND and KDN to hear from bill sponsors

12:30-2 pm – KAND scheduled programming in Capitol Room 327 including discussion on the importance of nutrition advocacy and the legislative process, an update on licensure, a speaker related to the bills we are supporting, and a potential visit from a government official
